Swietelsky Rail Australia (SRA)'s team has more than a decade of experience operating ballast trains for one of our major clients ARTC.  

This service is all inclusive of ballast stockpile management, ballast delivery, ballast train loading and unloading to support maintenance of the network to provide optimal performance.  

In May 2025, our specialist team was providing this critical service again, this time for the ARTC Interstate network between Yass and Binalong. The operation involved high-efficiency loading and unloading of ballast within a defined closure targeting specific areas of this network. 

The team successfully managed every aspect of the project, from coordinating train movements to ensuring strict adherence to safety, quality, and environmental standards. Through meticulous planning and execution, the project was delivered smoothly and incident-free, finishing four hours ahead of schedule. 

This project once again highlights SRA's expertise and proven capability to handle complex rail maintenance operations, and bolsters our reputation as specialists in this area.
